Olea
Hydrophobic. Biodegradable.
Hydrophobic effect
The first viscose fibre with built-in hydrophobic properties is ideally suited for skin contact hygiene products.
In contrast to conventional hydrophobing, we have managed to retain the typical properties of viscose fibres by incorporating the water-repellent effect into the entire fibre matrix. Thanks to this incorporation during the spinning process, the hydrophobic effect persists and cannot be washed out.
Biodegradable
The additive used for the production of Olea is FDA approved and, like the fibre itself, is obtained from renewable raw materials – meaning that the entire fibre is completely biodegradable.
Functional and environmentally friendly
This means that for the very first time, Olea enables the production of functional nonwovens from 100 % viscose fibres. The fibre offers an environmentally friendly alternative for the cover fleece of hygiene products such as baby diapers, sanitary towels or incontinence pads which are in direct skin contact. In order to protect the wearer’s skin, it must ensure the transport of liquid into the absorbent core. However, the cover fleece itself should remain dry.
