Chemical technician
Chemikant

Prerequisites
Secondary school leaving certificate, interest in natural sciences and a good grasp of technical issues, ability to work in a team

Duration of training
3 1/2 years

Further training opportunities
Industrial foreman (m/f/d) – specializing in chemistry
Technician (m/f/d) – specialising in chemical operations technology

Profile
Chemical technicians work in the production plant, in the pilot plant, in environmental protection plants and fulfil a responsible task. They start, control and monitor production processes, detect faults and eliminate them. Working with process control systems in the control room is just as self-evident as monitoring and operating computer-controlled plants. Many plants have to be operated 24/7, which is why chemical workers (after training) work in fully continuous shifts.
